We are preparing guidelines for our contractors so that disruption to our neighbors can be minimized. We would like to share these guidelines with you and hear any suggestions you may have. We would be grateful if you could join us for a meeting and dialogue on Thursday, August 6, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. We will meet in the conference room of the former Holy Rosary convent building, located at the corner of Eastern Avenue and Chester Street.

If you cannot join us and wish to offer any suggestions, please feel free to call me at 410-727-3255, ext. 1002 or email me at mlennon@cristoreybalt.org. If, at any time, there is a question or concern about construction or any other issue related to our school, I would welcome your call. For your convenience, I am attaching a copy of the 2009-10 Cristo Rey Jesuit school calendar.

We are grateful for the support of the local community as we work to fulfill our mission of providing a college preparatory education to promising young men and women from Baltimore City. We are pleased that we many of our students, faculty and staff reside in the neighborhoods that immediately surround Cristo Rey Jesuit.

I look forward to seeing you next Thursday evening!

Sincerely,

Mary Beth Lennon

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School. Where learning gets to work.
Cristo Rey High School ............
Dear Neighbors,

On or about Tuesday, August 25, the construction area around the former Holy Rosary Convent (now part of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School) will be secured with a perimeter fence. The construction area will extend into the west part of Chester Street directly in front of the school.  We also expect that a crane, which will be used to convey materials into the building, will be delivered to the jobsite very shortly.

As I presented to the Fells Prospect Community Association and, in a separate meeting, to those neighbors who reside closest to Cristo Rey Jesuit, the former convent will be renovated during this academic year, with construction beginning in September 2009 and ending in August 2010. Working closely with Mullan Contracting, we are making every effort to ensure that the construction goes as smoothly as possible. Construction hours are 7 a.m until 3 p.m.,  Monday through Friday. All workers on the jobsite  must obey a series of rules designed to ensure that they are welcome visitors to our neighborhood. A Mullan worker will clean the 400 block of Chester Street every Friday afternoon. There will be additional security on the jobsite when workers are not present.

Our neighbors in the 400 block of Chester received letters earlier this week with a notice about the fence and about the jobsite rules. If anyone in the community has any questions or concerns about this construction, please call me at 410-727-3255, ext. 1002 or email me at mlennon@cristoreybalt.org.

Many thanks,

Mary Beth Lennon
