Letter From the President
The political season is upon us (if it ever was not). As you may or may not know, the City has a number of very important elections coming up that will impact all of us. Our area is facing many issues that significantly affect our quality of life, such as the many proposed new and redevelopments, and other issues including schools, trash, and traffic. I hope everyone will take an active role in the future of our area.
Councilman Jim Kraft will, of course, run again for the 1st district city council seat, and it remains to be seen if he will be opposed this year, but either way it is important that we all pay close attention to the issues. Depending on how you feel personally, the citywide races for mayor and city council president may be equally important. In casual conversations in the community, some have mentioned that these elections may be the most important in decades. The direction of the city will be determined by a group of newly elected officials to key offices that are faced with more competing needs than money.
At our next meeting Councilman Jim Kraft will speak about current issues and answer questions. Additionally, Councilman Kraft is trying to arrange for one or two joint meetings between Fells Prospect and our neighboring association(s) so the city-wide candidates can present their visions and address our issues directly.
I hope everyone will try to attend our next meeting to hear from Councilman Kraft and ask him about issues that are important to you. Be an involved citizen, be informed, and vote.
